Travel experiences begin before booking and continue after the journey or stay. People move between search, payment, confirmation, transport, arrival, physical spaces, staff, digital tools, partners and support while expecting the original promise to remain clear.

UX Pacific studies these journeys with travellers, guests and the teams who serve them. We help organisations understand expectations, decision confidence, service handoffs, accessibility, disruption and the moments that shape trust and future choice.

Decisions our research supports

Can travellers choose and book confidently?

Evaluate search, comparison, availability, inclusions, policies, price and payment understanding.

Does the promise survive arrival and stay?

Study confirmation, preparation, wayfinding, check-in, spaces, amenities and service delivery.

What happens when plans change?

Understand communication, rebooking, cancellation, assistance, compensation and recovery.

What earns the next booking?

Explore value, remembered moments, loyalty, complaints, advocacy and reasons for switching.

  • Inspiration, search, comparison, booking, payment and confirmation
  • Pre-arrival preparation, transport connections, wayfinding, check-in and access
  • Room, seat, property, destination, amenities, staff interaction and self-service

  • Websites, apps, airports, stations, vehicles, properties, destinations and support channels

How we design the research

01

Define the journey decision

Clarify the travellers, journey stage, channels, markets and decision the study must support.

02

Map the service ecosystem

Connect digital touchpoints, physical spaces, frontline roles, operations and partners.

03

Recruit by travel reality

Select participants by purpose, frequency, party, booking behaviour, loyalty and access needs.

04

Study realistic moments

Use credible itineraries, prices, policies, time pressure, environments and service conditions.

05

Trace breakdowns across partners

Separate interface issues from information, policy, process, space and handoff problems.

06

Prioritize practical action

Translate evidence into clear priorities for digital, service, property, operations and leadership.

Methods matched to the journey

Studies may combine traveller and staff interviews, contextual inquiry, accompanied journeys, observation, journey mapping, service blueprinting, usability or prototype testing, diary studies, surveys, accessibility research and analysis of feedback or support data.

The method mix depends on whether the decision concerns booking usability, physical experience, repeated behaviour, cross-partner handoffs or disruption recovery.

Connect promise, delivery and recovery

A booking flow can test well while the complete journey still fails because information, partners or frontline teams do not share the same view of the guest promise.

We connect customer evidence across moments and teams, while stating clearly what the study can and cannot conclude.

What your team receives

  • Traveller evidence: behaviours, needs, expectations, barriers, emotions and context.
  • Journey view: connected digital, physical, frontline and partner touchpoints.
  • Prioritized findings: affected travellers, evidence, impact, likely cause, confidence and limitations.
  • Decision guidance: recommendations for digital, property, service, operations and recovery teams.
  • Stakeholder readout: clear implications, dependencies, trade-offs and next steps.

Responsible research across travel contexts

Travel studies may involve itineraries, identity documents, payment details, location, loyalty data, accessibility needs and stressful disruption scenarios. We plan consent, privacy, redaction, secure handling, recording and participant wellbeing around the study.

UX research evaluates traveller understanding and experience. It does not replace transport or property safety assessment, security review, emergency planning, accessibility conformance testing, legal advice or regulatory evaluation where these are required.
