Media and gaming experiences connect content, interaction, identity, community, commerce and support. People may move across phones, televisions, consoles, browsers and live environments while expecting progress, preferences and control to remain clear.

UX Pacific studies these journeys with viewers, listeners, readers, players, creators and service teams. We help organisations understand discovery, participation, value, trust and long-term experience without treating more time spent as the only measure of success.

Decisions our research supports

Can people discover relevant value?

Study search, browsing, recommendations, previews, categories and decision confidence.

Can new users start successfully?

Test setup, onboarding, controls, tutorials, profiles and the first meaningful experience.

Are payment and monetisation understood?

Evaluate plans, trials, purchases, currencies, advertising, renewal and cancellation.

What supports healthy continued use?

Understand value, progress, community, control, fatigue, friction and reasons for leaving.

How we design the research

01

Define the experience decision

Clarify the audience, platform, lifecycle stage, business model and decision the study must support.

02

Map the audience journey

Connect discovery, onboarding, participation, payment, community, support and return.

03

Recruit by behaviour

Select participants by genre, platform, experience, spending, social use and relevant access needs.

04

Study realistic sessions

Use credible devices, content, controls and social conditions over an appropriate period.

05

Connect behaviour and meaning

Combine observed actions with expectations, motivations, value, fatigue and reasons for leaving.

06

Prioritize responsible action

Translate evidence into product, content, commerce, community and support priorities.

Methods matched to the experience

Studies may combine interviews, contextual inquiry, usability and playtesting, concept or prototype testing, diary and longitudinal studies, journey mapping, surveys, accessibility research, analytics review and community or support-data analysis.

The method mix depends on whether the decision concerns immediate usability, content discovery, repeated behaviour, monetisation or community experience.

Measure more than time spent

Session length or return frequency alone cannot explain whether people found value, felt in control or encountered avoidable pressure and friction.

We connect behavioural indicators with qualitative evidence and state what can and cannot be inferred from the study.

What your team receives

  • Audience evidence: behaviours, motivations, needs, barriers, value and context.
  • Lifecycle view: discovery, onboarding, participation, payment, community, support and return.
  • Prioritized findings: affected audiences, evidence, impact, cause, confidence and limitations.
  • Decision guidance: recommendations for product, content, commerce, community and support teams.
  • Stakeholder readout: clear implications for experience, growth, trust and leadership teams.

Responsible research for participation and play

Media and gaming research can involve children, spending, social interaction, public communities and potentially harmful content. We plan age-appropriate recruitment, consent or assent, privacy, safeguarding, moderation boundaries, accessibility and data handling around the study.

Experience research does not replace child-safety review, content moderation policy, accessibility conformance testing, legal advice, security review, clinical assessment or regulatory evaluation where those are required. Reports state methods and limitations clearly.
